ACE CAMPS = ADVENTURE, CULTURE and EDUCATION.
Ace Camps are vacations where you learn from the BEST, the most POPULAR and the most INTERESTING leaders.
You and your group head out on a journey to meet amazing new people and experience different cultures in different cities. I seek out the most interesting professionals, artists, photographers, foodies, writers and creative people in the world to help you learn or improve a skill.
What type of instruction is offered?
Our retreats, workshops and journeys are filled with adventures, education and fantastic opportunities to spend time with interesting and likeminded people. Some of our leaders will teach informally with a hands on in the field approach and some will have structured lectures and demonstrations.
It is not only the workshop where you'll be inspired. Your journey begins when you sign up. It starts with your travel planning to collecting your supplies and countdown to take off it's all part of the experience.
Why would you choose Ace Camps?
Ace Camps selects outstanding leaders and accomplished professionals who will serve as mentors during your journey. You will get a chance to spend time with your instructor and get to know them outside of the workshop. We'll have meals together as a group either out at a restaurant or around the diningroom table in a unique environment. Some meals are home cooked while others are prepared by local chefs. Most Ace Camps are all different depending on the location, the leader and the participants.
We also seek out the coolest places to stay making this a unique vacation. We have stayed in mansions, tents, historic hotels, modern condos, hip hotels, boutique hotels and ranches.
Ace Camp Directors will accompany you and will have scoped out the best things to do for your destination but we also value your opinion as well. You may arrive a few days before the workshop and have found the best undiscovered restaurant or shop. We often leave things to serendipity because, well, if something more interesting arises and you and your group want to do it then we’ll do it. We have an itinerary but as a group however our guides are open to your group’s suggestions.
Group size is limited so instruction can be more personal.
We will be there before and after your journey to assist you in every possible way. You can contact us directly at any time and we will be happy to answer any question.
You have to start somewhere - our short but pretty awesome history:
In 2009 it all began.
The first workshop was with Sabrina Ward Harrison and we ventured to Pecadero, Baja, Mexico. The request to lead a workshop went out to Sabrina, the negotiations discussed and then the marketing began. The group signed up for "The Art of Becoming Yourself" and worked on their unique and personal journals but it wasn't just the creation of the journals that made the trip awesome. It was the meals together, the coffee and cinnamon rolls at the Todos Santos Cafe, the video Sabrina made of them gathering at the beach at sunset, Jorge's birthday party, abandoning their tents to sleep on the roof under the stars and learning by sheer will to surf.
The response was incredible. The adventure outstanding.
Since the first workshop with Sabrina many successful Ace Camps have followed – Camilla Engman (Sweden), Rolf Potts (Iceland), Suzanne Northcott (Baja), Tif Fussell, aka dottie angel (Seattle), Lisa Congdon (Grants Pass, Oregon), Holly Becker (Morocco), Geninne D. Zlatkis, (Mexico), Helene Dujardin (Santa Fe, New Mexico), Erin Loechner (Portland) and more…
